Moving is a difficult job. Judging from the comments from the google reviews of many of the moving companies, it is inevitable that there is the risk of items do get damaged during moves.

No moving company is perfect. The older companies run like a small business, so you won't get the 5 star professional service that you are hoping to get. The larger moving companies can give better service, but are typically more expensive.

If you have expensive / fragile items that can be hand carried, do move them yourself. Otherwise, if the expensive / fragile items are too large to be managed yourself, it is worth paying the moving company for extra protective wrapping.
